Doctors say an Iowa soldier wounded in last week's deadly shooting at Fort Hood in Texas should make a full recovery.
Twenty-seven-year-old Staff Sgt. Joy Clark, of Des Moines, was shot in her left forearm in the rampage last Thursday that left 13 dead and 29 others injured. The accused gunman, an Army psychiatrist, Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, was also shot and survived.
Clark had surgery on Monday, and doctors put a steel plate in her arm. Her husband, Josh, says doctors say everything went better than they expected.
Clark is an occupational therapist's assistant. Her specialty is helping people with hand injuries. She arrived at Fort Hood last Tuesday to prepare for deployment to the Middle East after Thanksgiving.
