Kirkwood 'concerned' - Kirkwood Community College is calling it concerning that a Cedar Rapids City Council candidate, who once taught at the school, posted educational information about a former student while the two were engaged in an online argument on election night.
Chris Jackson, 27, was enrolled in a pre-algebra class at Kirkwood in fall 2008 taught by Lisa Kuzela, 54, who came in second in Tuesday's at-large race, they both said. Read the full story and reactions here.
Hawkeyes prep for Wisconsin - For the Hawkeyes, win this game and stay alive in the Big Ten West Division. Win this game and quickly and quietly (kidding, trophy runs are never this) bus the Heartland Trophy back to Iowa City. Win this game and it's officially a fun season.

Yes, yes, that certainly doesn't hold the cachet the Big Ten East holds, but it's a fact in the West. Read the full pregame breakdown here.
Gubernatorial candidates pan current Medicaid -
Six candidates looking to unseat Gov. Kim Reynolds in 2018 — four Democrats and two Republicans — agreed Thursday they would repeal privately managed Medicaid and replace it with a state-run system offering quality, reliable services and paying Iowa providers on time.
Democrats Andy McGuire, Cathy Glasson, Jon Neiderbach and John Norris shared the stage with Republicans Ron Corbett and Steven Ray at a Rebalancing Health Care in the Heartland forum co-hosted by the University of Iowa Health Science Colleges and the Iowa Rural Health Association. Both avionics company Rockwell Collins and insurance company Transamerica received a score of 100 on the index, the top score the HRC Foundation provides. Read the full story and see a breakdown of scores here.
Emerald Ash Borer found in Delaware Co -
Emerald ash borer has been detected in Decatur County, putting the total number of impacted Iowa counties at 53, state officials announced Thursday.
Ash borer was detected in a rural area north of Grand River as a result of someone with a tree service recognizing potentially infested ash trees. After contacting the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship, the site was visited and later confirmed positive following the diagnosis of an insect specimen. Read the full story here.
