Arson has been confirmed in an overnight fire that destroyed three cars and damaged a garage in Cedar Rapids early Tuesday.
Police and firefighters responded around 1:45 a.m. to the alley behind 922 15th Ave. SW where they found the blaze. A car, a van and a sport-utility vehicle were destroyed. No one was injured.
Investigators determined that three separate fires were deliberately set, according to Fire Department spokesman Greg Buelow. The fire also damaged the exterior of a nearby pickup and melted siding on a garage.
The owner of the vehicles and garage is Richard Lacy, 67.
Buelow said an investigation is under way. No arrests have been made.
