MARTELLE - Four people face charges in connection with an armed bank robbery in Martelle on Monday.
The Jones County Sheriff's Office said Andrew Palmer, 24, and Shiloh Palmer, 22, entered Exchange State Bank shortly after noon with long guns. The suspects, who took an undisclosed amount of crash, fled in a getaway vehicle driven by Peter Olinger, 41, authorities said early Tuesday morning.
The three suspects later met Elizabeth Olinger, 25, on 230th Avenue, where they abandoned the getaway car and switched into another vehicle, the sheriff's office said. Police recovered the white getaway car shortly after the robbery.
Deputies made the arrests following two separate traffic stops hours later.
Andrew and Shiloh Palmer both face a first-degree robbery charge. Peter and Elizabeth Olinger both face a first-degree aiding and abetting to robbery charge.
A man who lives near the bank told KCRG that the bank was robbed several years ago. He said he wasn't surprised about the latest robbery, as there are at least a few paved roads out of town and no city police department, only the county sheriff's office.
The Jones County Sheriff's Office is still investigating.
