CORALVILLE - Four people are in custody after a shooting Monday afternoon.
A release from Police Chief Barry Bedford said officers responded at 4:52 p.m. to a report of a gunshot victim in the 600 block of 10th Avenue.
Police arrived and found a 15-year-old victim had been shot in the hip. He was taken to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and is expected to recover, according to the release. Investigators were able to recover the gun used in the shooting.
Officers arrested four people in connection with the incident. 17-year-old Arthur Kirksey, of Coralville, is charged with attempted murder, first-degree robbery and possession of a firearm as a felon. Three others, 18-year-old Deonta Moore, from Coralville, along with 20-year-old Patrick Warren and 18-year-old Ali Abdelkarim, both of Iowa City, face one count of first-degree robbery.
Bedford did not describe the circumstances that would support a robbery charge, saying in the release the 'circumstances and motive for the shooting remain under investigation.”
That ongoing case may lead to additional arrests and charges, Bedford said.
