FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Fort Wayne Tincaps scored five runs in the bottom of the ninth inning and another in the 10th to stun the Cedar Rapids Kernels, 7-6, Sunday afternoon, sweeping a three-game series.
The Kernels (68-51) took a 6-1 lead to the ninth, but reliever John Curtiss allowed a two-run home run to Trae Santos and a following solo shot to Edwin Moreno. He got the next two hitters, but walked the ensuing two.
On a 3-2 pitch and the runners going, Luis Tejada lofted a shallow single to right that scored two and tied the game. A throwing error by third baseman T.J. White allowed leadoff hitter Luis Urias to reach leading off the Fort Wayne 10th.
He moved up on a groundout and scored when pinch hitter Franmil Reyes lined a single to center. Yorman Landa (1-1) took the loss.
Cedar Rapids scored four runs in the seventh and two in the eighth for a 6-1 lead. Austin Diemer had a double, triple and two RBIs.
The Kernels have Monday off, then begin a three-game homestand Tuesday night at 6:35 against the Kane County Cougars.
