Former Xavier prep Woods headed to Iowa
Former Cedar Rapids Xavier prep Corbin Woods has signed to continue his college baseball at the University of Iowa,
Woods hit .309 in 165 at-bats this past season for Heartland Community College in Illinois, which announced Woods' signing. He also had a team-high 14 doubles and walked (29 times) more than he struck out (24).
His uncle, Mike Boddicker, was a star at Iowa before moving on to a lengthy professional pitching career. Woods' late grandfather, Ken Charipar, was an assistant coach for the Hawkeyes.
