CEDAR RAPIDS - Former Waukon prep Blaine Snitker of the University of Dubuque has been named Iowa Conference Football Defensive Player of the Year, the conference announced Thursday afternoon.
Snitker, a senior, is a three-time first-team all-IIAC pick. The linebacker helped Dubuque finish first in virtually every major team defensive category in the league.
The Spartans play Saint John's (Minn.) in the first round of the NCAA Division III national playoffs Saturday. Dubuque won the Iowa Conference.
The Offensive Player of the Year is Wartburg senior quarterback Logan Schrader, who threw for 2,725 yards and 18 touchdowns. The Knights finished with a 9-1 record.
Dubuque's Stan Zweifel is the IIAC Coach of the Year.
Wartburg running back Brandon Domeyer (a former West Delaware prep) was named to the all-conference team for the third time. Wartburg punter Grant Zimmerman is a four-time pick.
Neither Coe or Luther had anyone picked for the IIAC first team. Coe wide receiver Elijah Phillips and defensive back Dillon Daniel were named to the second team, as was Luther offensive lineman James Ostlie.
