Former Iowa running back Adam Robinson pleaded guilty to possession of marijuana today, after he was arrested by the Iowa State Patrol in Des Moines Dec. 27.
Robinson received a deferred judgment in the case. He will be required to pay a $315 court fee, and will serve a year of probation. He'll also be required to complete substance abuse treatment, according to Des Moines television station KCCI.
Robinson, Iowa's leading rusher the last two seasons with 1,775 yards and 15 TDs, was dismissed from the team by Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz Jan. 4 in response to the Des Moines arrest. He was suspended from the Insight Bowl for violations of team rules.
An Iowa State Patrol trooper stopped the vehicle Robinson was riding in for no front plate in Des Moines at 10:45 p.m. Dec. 27. According to the State Patrol release, "during his initial approach to the vehicle, the Trooper detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. A probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted and marijuana was found inside the vehicle."
The car's driver, Ermin Zornic, 20, was charged with possession with intent to deliver marijuana.
