Former Iowa lieutenant governor Neu dies at age 82

DES MOINES - Former Iowa lieutenant governor Arthur Neu passed away Friday at the age of 82.
Neu, a Republican from Carroll, served as lieutenant governor under Robert Ray from 1973 to 1979. He also served in the Iowa Senate from 1967 to 1972, on the Iowa Board of Regents from 1979 to 1985, and as mayor of Carroll from 1982 to 1985.
'Iowa lost a dedicated public servant today with the passing of Art Neu,” Gov. Terry Branstad said in a news release. 'I had the honor of succeeding Art as lieutenant governor of Iowa. Art's passion for his home community of Carroll was always evident. I offer my deepest condolences to his family.”
