Former Hawkeye LB Bob Diaco new UConn coach

Former Iowa linebacker Bob Diaco will be the new head football coach at Connecticut, according to CBSsports.com. Diaco was a two-time All-Big Ten linebacker at Iowa for Fry. Along with Sedrick Shaw and Casey Wiegmann, he was an MVP of the Hawkeyes in 1995.
Diaco had been the defensive coordinator at Notre Dame. He began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Iowa in 1996 and 1997. From there, he was an assistant coach at Western Illinois, Eastern Michigan, Western Michigan, Central Michigan, Virginia, Cincinnati and Notre Dame.
Diaco led Iowa in tackles in 1994 and 1995. He had 334 career tackles.
Diaco joins former Fry Iowa players, assistant coaches and graduate assistants who are currently head coaches at Iowa (Kirk Ferentz), Kansas State (Bill Snyder), Oklahoma (Bob Stoops), Kentucky (Mark Stoops), Arkansas (Bret Bielema), North Texas (Dan McCarney) and Nebraska (Bo Pelini).
Former Fry players/coaches at Iowa who are coordinators at FBS schools are Del Miller (Kansas State), Jay Norvell (Oklahoma) and Mike Stoops (Oklahoma).
Other FBS assistants who coached or played for Fry at Iowa include Bob Elliott (Notre Dame) and William Inge (Indiana).
