The former Iowa City elementary guidance counselor found guilty of abusing a child has requested a new trial.
Donald Clark's attorney, John Robertson, filed a motion today asking for the court to overrule the guilty verdict and have a new trial under the grounds that the verdict was granted in error, according to Iowa Courts Online.
Clark, 41, was found guilty Feb 10. by a Johnson County jury, and sentencing was set for March 18.
The victim, now 16, claimed Clark, had touched and rubbed him during individual counseling sessions in Clark's office. Clark denied the allegations during trial.
Clark faces up to 25 years in prison for second-degree sexual abuse on a child who was in fifth grade during the 2003-04 school year.
