The former library director for the city of Garrison is accused of taking thousands of dollars of the city's money, authorities said.
Mary E. Sheeley, 41, of rural Garrison, was arrested and charged with forgery and second-degree theft Monday. She is accused of forging the signature of the Garrison city clerk on 36 checks between August and December of 2010.
Benton County Sheriff Randy Forsyth said the checks amounted to $4,062.97.
Both charges are Class D felonies. Sheeley was taken to the Benton County Jail and has since been released pending a court appearance on Wednesday.
