Brady C. Johnson, the onetime roommate of former University of Iowa football player Derrell Johnson-Koulianos, appeared in Johnson County District Court for sentencing Tuesday morning.
Johnson, 21, originally came into contact with authorities after police executed a search warrant Dec. 7 at the residence he shared with Johnson-Koulianos. Officers recovered marijuana, cocaine, prescription drugs and a large quantity of money at the residence.
On May 3, Johnson pleaded guilty to a controlled substance violation and permitting use of a controlled substance as part of a plea agreement. Additional charges of possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of a prescription drug were dismissed as part of a plea agreement.
Prosecutors recommended that judgment on the case be deferred for three years because Johnson has undergone substance abuse treatment, has a limited criminal history and is currently employed. During that three year period, Johnson will be placed on supervised probation and have to pay a civil fine of $750.
"I apologize for my actions and I have learned my lesson," Johnson told the judge.
