A former Agriprocessors human resources employee was sentenced this week in U.S. District Court to probation on a harboring charge.
Laura Althouse, 38, of Postville, pleaded guilty in October 2008 to conspiring to harbor undocumented workers for financial gain. She was sentenced Wednesday to two years probation.
The charge stems from May 11, a day before a federal immigration raid at the Postville kosher meatpacking plant which resulted in more than 389 illegal immigrants arrested.
A former Agriprocessors human resources manager, Elizabeth Billmeyer, 48, of Postville, is set for sentencing Jan. 7. She pleaded guilty in April to conspiracy to harbor undocumented workers for financial gain and knowingly accepting forged or counterfeited resident immigrant cards.
