Heavy fog has grounded flights at The Eastern Iowa Airport and sent inbound flights elsewhere.
“We don't officially call it shut down, but there isn't anything moving,” airport spokeswoman Pam Hinman said about 1:45 p.m.
A spokesman for PS Air, UI's charter carrier, confirmed shortly before 4:30 p.m. the Hawkeyes' flight was landing shortly in Madison, Wisc. The team and its fellow travellers will be bused to Iowa City.
Flights this afternoon from Chicago on United Airlines and from Detroit and the Twin Cities on Delta have been canceled. Delta and United have also canceled departures for Chicago, although a 1:40 p.m. Delta departure for Chicago departed on time.
“I've been sitting here since 11 o'clock this morning, and only one flight has left,” Jim McCarville, who is trying to get home to Florida.
Some people are opting to board buses to get to their destinations.
Travelers should check
the airport's web site and call their airlines.
