A Cedar Rapids beer distributor is purchasing Quad Cities-based Wolfe Beverage Company.
Fleck Sales Company is not releasing the terms of the purchase but the company said the transaction is expected to close in early June.
This is Fleck Sales seventh acquisition in Iowa and will increase the number of Iowa counties it serves to 25.
Revenue from the combined business should exceed $70 million.
'We don't anticipate making any major changes to the way Wolfe operated in the near term,” said Fleck Sales President Dudley Fleck, in a news release.
Fleck Sales officials said consolidation among local beverage distributors is becoming more common as the industry changes and now requires more value-added service and technology.
Wolfe Beverage Company was founded in 1979 by Robert Wolfe, an Adolph Coors distributor, after purchasing a Davenport-based Miller Brewing Company wholesaler.
The company now distributes to three counties in Eastern Iowa and represents 18 different breweries.
Fleck Sales was founded in 1954 by Keith and Doris Fleck. Fleck acquired Miller Brewing products in 1967. The business still is run by family members and has an annual revenue of more than $50 million.
The company also added 30,000 square feet to its property in 2014 to increase its storage capacity and recycling efforts.
