Five killed in Benton County crash
Apr. 10, 2015 9:50 am
BENTON COUNTY — A crash Thursday afternoon killed five people, ranging in age from 12 to 20 years old.
A crash report from the Iowa State Patrol says a pickup driven by 19-year-old Quentin Ary, of Vinton, was traveling west on 55th Street around 4:10 p.m. when it entered the intersection with Highway 150.
The pickup was hit by a northbound semi-trailer truck driven by Jack R. Youde, 56, of Sutherland, sending both vehicles into the north ditch and leaving the semi blocking both northbound lanes.
The crash killed Ary and four others: 20-year-old Nicole Jacobson of Vinton, 17-year-old Triston Randall of Urbana, and 14-year-old Hunter Tuttle and 12-year-old Zoey Tuttle, both from Vinton. Troopers say Ary was the only one wearing a seat belt.
All five were pronounced dead at the scene by the Benton County Medical Examiner's Office.
The crash remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol.
