Firefighters were called to a duplex fire in Coralville at 2265 9th street around 3:50 p.m. The front of the unit was destroyed by fire, but it only took crews 15 minutes to get the flames under control.
The woman who owns the duplex was not home at the time of the fire, but firefighters were able to get inside and save a dog. The dog was then taken to a local vet to be treated for smoke inhalation.
