Fire evacuates Coralville apartment building

The residents of a Coralville apartment building were evacuated Thursday night after a fire broke out on the building's second floor.

Fire crews were called to 209 Holiday Rd. around 7:30 p.m. Thursday after a resident reported a fire on the upper level The man who called 911 said police were asking questions the person who lived in the apartment where the fire started.  He did not know if the person was home or not when the fire started.

Residents said the entire second level of the building filled with smoke before the fire department arrived.

One resident was treated with oxygen from inhaling the smoke, but no one was taken to the hospital, witnesses said.  The extent of the damage and cause was unknown as of Friday morning.
