Fire damages home in SE Cedar Rapids

An early morning fire damaged a home on Cedar Rapids' southeast side.
Fire crews were called to a residence at 511 17th Street SE at around 5:45 Sunday morning. When firefighters arrived on scene, they found heavy smoke and flames in the kitchen area. The fire had spread into the attic of the home as well.
Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire before it spread to others areas of the building.
No injuries were reported. Crews are still searching for a cause.
