CEDAR RAPIDS - A fire early Sunday morning left a Cedar Rapids auto shop with fire and smoke damage.
Cedar Rapids firefighters were called to 3988 First Ave. NE at 5:43 a.m. on a report of black smoke showing from the building, an auto repair shop owned by Zimmerman Ford.
When crews arrived, they found smoke showing from the building's roof eve line. Firefighters entered the building and extinguished the fire.
The building sustained minor fire damage and moderate smoke damage, according to a Cedar Rapids Fire Department news release.
No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but initial findings indicate the fire may have started in or around a piece of mechanical equipment, officials said.
