Fire damages back of North Liberty home

NORTH LIBERTY - Fire damaged one side of a home Sunday morning.

Firefighters responded to the 100 block of Alydar Drive at 7:37 a.m. for a report of a smoldering charcoal grill melting the siding of a home.

A police officer who arrived on the scene said the back of the structure was covered in flames.

Those living inside the home, and those in attached structures, were evacuated safely, according to a release from the North Liberty Fire Department.

Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the back of the structure, though the damage there was described as 'significant.”

Officials did not immediately have an estimate on the cost of the damage. Investigators were still working to determine the cause of the fire.
