Fire breaks out at vacant Marion home
Mar. 7, 2011 10:08 am
UPDATE: Flames shot high into the night sky as a vacant rental house burned in Marion early Monday morning.
Firefighters were called just after midnight to 957 13th St. Assistant Fire Chief John Madland said crews mostly battled the fire from the outside, with help from a ladder truck, because of the intensity of the flames.
“When our engine companies arrived, there was fire and heavy smoke coming out of the roofline,” Assistant Fire Chief John Madland said. “Within a few minutes, the roof lit up.”
No one was injured in the fire. The house is owned by the Rick Krusie Construction Company, according to the Linn County assessor's website.
Madland said an investigation to determine the cause of the fire was still in its infancy.
“At this point in the situation, all options are on the table,” he said.
