Fire at Quaker plant extinguished before crews arrive

CEDAR RAPIDS -- A Quaker Oats fire brigade extinguished a small fire in a manufacturing area of the company's Cedar Rapids plant Wednesday afternoon.
The fire, on the 13th floor of the building, was already out when the Cedar Rapids fire department arrived on the scene. Crews proceeded to check for extension of the blaze.
Assistant Fire Chief Greg Smith said no employees were evacuated out of the building and didn't know the extent of the damage. Smith said, to his knowledge, no one was injured.
Officials did not immediately know the cause of the fire.
