Fire at Iowa City home controlled quickly
An Iowa City woman experienced a scare when smoke began to fill her home Tuesday afternoon.
Iowa City fire officials said that smoke was showing from the garage of the home at 1902 Woodridge Ave. when firefighters responded to the scene slightly after noon.
Fire crews found flames visible in the basement, but were able to get them under control within minutes.
The woman and her cat escaped the home without injury. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
