MINNEAPOLIS -- The Hawkeyes will bring Floyd of Rosedale back to Iowa City.
Iowa topped rival Minnesota, 23-7, in TCF Bank Stadium on Saturday. The Hawkeye defense smothered Minnesota's rushing attack, limiting the Gophers to just 30 yards on 27 attempts. Iowa also intercepted Gopher quarterback Philip Nelson twice.
While the defense dominated, the Hawkeye offense did enough for the win. Jake Rudock passed for 218 yards and ran in his fifth touchdown of the season. Late in the first half, Rudock hit speedy receiver Damond Powell on a screen pass that Powell took 74 yards to the end zone.
Running back Mark Weisman turned in another workhorse performance, carrying the ball 24 times for 147 yards.
The Hawkeyes improved to 4-1 on the season. They play Michigan State next week at Kinnick Stadium.
