A U.S. soldier from Sumner was reportedly injured by an explosion in Afghanistan this week.
Since Zach Schick's parents got word of the injury, more than 500 people have joined a facebook group called “Support for Zach Schick” where the soldier's parents are posting updates and friends are offering encouragement.
Details are sparse, but posts from Schick's parents indicate he and a few other injured soldiers were taken to a hospital in Germany after the explosion. From there, it appears the men are headed to Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C.
“Zach is running low fever but is still in same condition. Dr. said he would call me from his personal phone once they land in DC. Just great to know they are keeping us posted as well as they do for being the government,” Curt Schick wrote on Thursday morning.
Curt Schick and Julie Schick say plan to go to Washington, D.C. later this week to visit their son.
