CEDAR RAPIDS - A former Iowa elementary school principal charged with receiving child pornography will be evaluated by a psychologist who specializes in treating sex offenders.
Court records show Robert Burke is expected to undergo a competency examination Wednesday by psychologist Luis Rosell of Mount Pleasant.
The exam will occur at the Linn County Jail and was requested by Burke's new defense attorney. Rosell is the former sex offender treatment director for the Iowa Department of Corrections.
Investigators say Burke installed a camera in the boy's bathroom at Sageville Elementary School, near Dubuque, to capture images of young students. So far, he has not been charged in connection with the taping.
Instead, he has pleaded not guilty to receiving child pornography that prosecutors say was found on his computer and in his home.
