Escaped Linn County inmate arrested by United States Marshal Task Force

An inmate who walked away from a hospital where he was receiving treatment while awaiting trial was arrested today by the United States Marshal Task Force.
According to a release from the Linn County Sheriff's Office, on July 16 Derek Kacher, 25, had been sent to receive treatment at Mercy Hospital while he was under detainer for an upcoming trial on two charges of revocation of probation and driving with a revoked license. According to the release, at 10:37 a.m. the following day the Linn County Correctional Facility was notified that Kacher had walked away from the hospital
Today, just after noon, Kacher was taken into custody by the United States Marshal Task Force at the 2200 block of Blairs Ferry Rd. NE in Cedar Rapidsm according to the release. Kacher was returned by officers to the Linn County Correctional Center where he will await trial for the original charges as well as an additional charge of Escape from Custody.
