GUTTENBERG - At a special Thursday meeting, the Guttenberg City Council approved spending up to $1,000 to hire an environmentalist for a water system improvement project study.
The environmentalist will check an area of the proposed project because there is a chance it's inhabited by an endangered species of snail.
Council members also approved hiring TeKippe Engineering of Manchester, to review plans for the town's Royal Oaks subdivision, and IIW Engineering of Dubuque to do the designing and engineering for final phase of the city's marina project, which will include floating docks, gangways and a comfort station.
