English Valleys Schools react to graffiti
Dec. 9, 2010 8:45 am
An apparent case of vandalism prompted English Valleys Community Schools to take some extra security precautions on Thursday.
School staff found a spray painted message “death 12-9” on the front of the school. School officials notified authorities who determined it was not a credible threat. Instead, it's been termed a case of vandalism.
The school locked all exterior doors but did not impose “lockdown” procedure on students inside the building. Superintendent Alan Jensen said all classes and other activities continued as normal inside the schools.
The Iowa County Sheriff's Department will station an officer all day at the schools for extra security. The school did give parents the option of removing students from classes if they chose.
