Ellis Road NW closed due to flooding

The rising Cedar River has closed a second Cedar Rapids street.
City workers closed Ellis Road NW from Edgewood Road to F Avenue NW shortly before 4 p.m. this afternoon (MON) as the river neared 12.5 feet, about 6 inches over flood stage. Parking has been banned along 10th Street SE from Otis Road to Hull Avenue SE to “support continued operations at the Cargill plant during the higher river levels,” according to Craig Hanson, the city's public works maintenance manager.
Otis Road SE south of the Cargill mill was closed Sunday morning.
The National Weather Service is predicting a 15-foot crest at Cedar Rapids late Wednesday or early Thursday.
