UPDATE: The cause of Thursday night's mobile home fire in Marion appears to be electrical, authorities said.
Firefighters extinguished a blaze at 20 Ash Drive, a mobile home at the Marion Village housing community, after the fire call came in around 7:45 p.m. Thursday.
Two people were living in the home, along with a few dogs, said Capt. Kurt Carlson. One woman was inside when the blaze started but she escaped without injury, Carlson said.
Carlson said the exact cause is still unknown, but it appears to be an unintentional electrical failure.
The mobile home is owned by Cindy Emerson and valued at $4,000, according to a news releases from the Marion Fire Department. It sustained heavy heat and smoke damage.
The American Red Cross offered to assist the victims with housing services, but Carlson said they may have already been assisted by friends.
It was unknown if the home had a functioning smoke alarm.
An investigation into the fire continues, said Carlson.
