CEDAR RAPIDS — The Eastern Iowa Airport has seen record passenger numbers every month this year, and even more are expected to use the Cedar Rapids airport this holiday season.
A total of 128,357 passengers flew through CID in September 2025, according to a Monday update. That is an increase of 3.2 percent when compared to the same month last year. Year to date, the airport has seen an 8 percent increase in traffic when compared to the same period in 2024.
That trend is expected to continue throughout the holiday travel season, with Airport Director Marty Lenss anticipating this year’s final passenger count to set another annual high. Last year, 1.5 million passengers used The Eastern Iowa Airport — up from 1.4 million in 2023.
“We are reaching these numbers because airlines are investing in this region with additional seats and passengers across Eastern Iowa and beyond are filling them,” Lenss said in a written statement. “Thank you to the airlines for believing in this market and thank you to passengers who are choosing CID for their travel.”
Heading into the holiday season, the overall number of seats available is expected to increase to meet the growing demand. The airport currently has nonstop service to 17 destinations and more than 400 one-stop destinations across five airlines.
