IOWA CITY - Early voting begins Tuesday for this month's special election to fill a vacancy on the Johnson County Board of Supervisors.
The Auditor's Office, 913 S. Dubuque St., will host early voting weekdays from 7:45 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. from Tuesday through Jan. 15, with the office closed on Jan. 18 for Martin Luther King Day.
Officials with the Auditor's Office scheduled the special election for Jan. 19, to pre-empt the upcoming Iowa caucuses and fill the seat left vacant by former Supervisor Terrence Neuzil, who announced last year his resignation to take a job in Michigan.
The Johnson County Democratic Convention selected Lisa Green-Douglass, who has been active in local politics since 1988, to take on current North Liberty Council member and no party candidate Chris Hoffman.
On Jan. 19, the polls for the special election will be open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
