IOWA CITY — DVIP/RVAP Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Crisis Services has announced that beginning in December, it will be led by co-executive directors Alta Medea and Delaney Dixon.
Medea and Dixon have a combined 40-plus years of experience in victim advocacy and other services.
Dixon currently serves as assistant executive director of DVIP and Medea is the director of community engagement at DVIP.
As co-executive directors, Medea and Dixon will “guide the agency into a stable, sustainable, and bright future, building on the rich history of DVIP/RVAP and supporting victim-survivors throughout Southeastern Iowa,” according to a news release announcing their hirings.
“I am continually impressed by this organization’s mission, philosophy, and dedication to helping others,” Linda Farkas, Chair of the DVIP/RVAP Succession and Hiring Committee, said in a news release. “The Board of Directors supports our choice of leaders, Alta Medea and Delaney Dixon, to guide DVIP/RVAP in the right direction, ensuring its ongoing success and solidifying a strong future for victim-survivors.”
Longtime Executive Director Kristie Fortmann-Doser announced her planned retirement, which led to the search. The hiring committee reviewed more than 100 candidates before deciding on the co-executive directors.
