Dumpster fire at Iowa City Goodwill quickly extinguished
IOWA CITY - A fire in a Dumpster at the Iowa City Goodwill store Sunday caused minor damage and was quickly extinguished.
The fire was reported at 9:55 a.m. Sunday in a combination Dumpster and trash compactor attached to the rear loading dock of the Iowa City Goodwill store at 445 Highway 6 East. Fire crews found a fire in the Dumpster, as well as smoke in the building's rear storage area.
The fire was contained to the Dumpster, and damage was estimated at less than $500. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. No injuries were reported.
