IOWA CITY - Dubuque Street is reopened after being closed because of a gas leak Monday.
MidAmerican crews originally estimated that portions of the road would be blocked off for six to eight hours beginning around 1 p.m., according to a media release. But the reopening of the street came about three hours after the announcement of its closing.
The city originally closed about a mile of Dubuque Street, between Ronalds Street and Foster Road, before quickly scaling back the closure to Park Road and Ronalds Street.
Traffic backs up on Dubuque Street as work continues on the Gateway Project in an aerial photograph in Iowa City on Thursday, July 14, 2016. (Stephen Mally/The Gazette)
