A Dubuque Hempstead assistant principal accused of having a sexual relationship with a student pleaded not guilty this morning.
Prosecutors say Shane Oswald snuck a 17-year-old student into his home and had sex with her on several occasions. Oswald is also accused of giving the girl alcohol and prescription drugs.
This was Oswald's first court appearance since his father posted a $50,000 bond for his release last week.
Oswald, dressed in a suit and tie, pleaded not guilty to charges of sexual exploitation of a minor by a school employee, giving a controlled substance to a person under 18 and giving alcohol to a person underage.
Court documents show Oswald told police the girl was never inside his home, but the girl was able to draw a diagram of the inside of Oswald's house.
Oswald's trial is set to begin March 30.
