A traffic stop early Wednesday led to the discovery of seven pounds of marijuana, court documents say.
Abraham B. Brewer, 20, and Benjamin J. Cairy, 18, were arrested after police pulled over a vehicle driven by Cairy in the 300 block of 29th Street SE shortly before 5 a.m. A search of the vehicle turned up “approximately 7.1 pounds” of marijuana.
Brewer and Cairy are both charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and a drug tax stamp violation. Brewer also faces a second count of each, for having 10.2 grams of cocaine. Cairy is also charged with simple possession and drunken driving.
Both Cairy, of Troy Mills, and Brewer, of 1546 C Ave. NE, remain in the Linn County Jail. Cairy's bail is set at $16,000 cash, Brewer's at $40,000 cash.
