MARION - A 14-year-old boy was hurt when the vehicle he was driving crashed during a police chase that went on for several miles early Sunday morning, authorities said.
Marion police tried to stop a vehicle around 1:20 a.m. on Sunday after it jumped a curb and went onto a sidewalk in the 1200 block of Seventh Avenue. The driver would not stop and continued east, out of the city on Highway 151.
After about 12 miles on the four-lane highway, the boy lost control of the vehicle near the intersection of Linn-Jones Road and it crashed into the median. According to police, the boy was transported to Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
The boy's name was not released. Charges are pending, and an investigation was continuing, police said.
