Dog recovering in Iowa City after reportedly being thrown from truck
May. 13, 2011 4:58 pm
A black and white terrier is resting, with some bumps and bruises and a few scratches, at the Iowa City Animal Care and Adoption Center and Care Center Shelter.
His trip to the shelter may have started when he was thrown from a pickup Thursday.
Officers were alerted Thursday afternoon when a witness called in, saying they saw a dog thrown from a white truck driving on Highway 965 near Oakdale Boulevard. A motorist found the dog shortly after it happened and held it until animal control officers arrived.
Police are still looking for anyone with information about the person driving the truck. They're not sure if the terrier was thrown from the truck or if he jumped out the window.
Police Chief Barry Bedford says officers want the driver to know they will not face any charges if the dog jumped out of the truck.
