DM Bishop, Branstads get Ernst’s tickets for papal visit

CEDAR RAPIDS - The bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Des Moines of and Gov. Terry Branstad and his wife will get Sen. Joni Ernst's tickets for Pope Francis' address to a joint session of Congress later this month.
Each member of Congress gets one guest ticket for a seat in the House gallery. Ernst, a freshman Republican, will give hers to Bishop Richard Pates.
In addition, Ernst is giving her two tickets for seats in a Senate office building for a simulcast of the speech Sept. 24 to Branstad and his wife, Chris, who are Catholics.
