Dive into Labor Day weekend at Eastern Iowa pools, splash pads
Outdoor, indoor options offer fun cool downs as the temperatures heat up

Just in time for temperatures to nudge back toward nearly the triple digits, several Corridor swimming pools and splash pads will remain open during the worst of it.
Cedar Rapids
Noelridge Aquatic Center: 1248 42nd St. NE, will be open from 1 to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, and 1 to 5 p.m. Monday. Much more than just a pool, this aquatic center sports zero-depth entry, sloping entry stairs, hydraulic chair lift, a waterslide, a speed slide, a drop slide, lap lanes, a diving board, several whimsical water play features, a sand play area for those dreaming of a beach as well as places to sit, lie or eat in the shade. Bender Pool: 940 14th Ave. SE, is open through Friday and will reopen for the fall season Tuesday. This indoor pool has shallow and deep ends, lanes for swimming or walking, a basketball hoop, a slide, a hydraulic chair and sloping steps. Iowa City
City Park Pool: Upper City Park, 200 E. Park Rd., will be open for lap swim 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday and open swims from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday to Monday. The city’s outdoor T-shaped pool features lanes, two 1-meter and two 3-meter diving boards, as well as a small wading pool. Admission is $4 or by pass, and free for ages 2 and under.

Dog Paddle: Noon to 2 p.m. or 3 to 5 p.m. Sept. 10, City Park Pool. The dogs get their day, swimming, chasing tennis balls or just splashing around. Coralville
Coralville Recreation Center Indoor Pool: 1506 Eighth St., will be open 6 a.m. to 8:45 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Saturday. The pool features a diving board, shallow and deep ends, separate wading pool and a whirlpool spa. Cost: $5 ages 2 and up. The pool will reopen to the public Wednesday. North Liberty
Pacha Aquatic Center: 520 W. Cherry St. This indoor facility will be open Saturday and Sunday for lap swim from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and open swim from 1 to 5:55 p.m. Enter from inside the Community Center. Monticello
Monticello Aquatic Center: 811 S. Cedar St., will be open Saturday from noon to 1 p.m. for lap swim and aerobics, then 1 to 5 p.m. for open swim Saturday to Monday. Corridor splash pads
Cedar Rapids splash pads: The city’s free cool and colorful splash pads will operate by touch from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. through Sept. 10 -- later than usual, but the city extended it past Labor Day because of the forecast hot weather. You don’t have to be a kid to run through the sprays, but you might want to take a towel to dry off — unless it’s so hot the water just evaporates off your skin and clothes.
