Federal, state and local officials will be touring four Iowa counties soon to assess damage from severe storms that struck earlier this week.
The office of Gov. Terry Branstad says the tours are scheduled for Monday in Benton, Marshall, Story and Tama counties.
The governor has already issued emergency disaster proclamations for the counties, allowing state resources to be used for recovery efforts.
Monday's assessments could be used by the governor's office in a follow-up request for federal disaster aid.
Storms pounded the area early Monday morning with wind gusts that topped 100 mph in some areas. The storms knocked down trees and power lines leaving thousands without electricity.
