DeWitt man killed in crash Friday night

DEWITT- A DeWitt Central Community School District employee died Friday night when he drove a district van into a semi truck.
Melvin R. Boyer, of DeWitt, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash at the 3000 block of 245th Street just east of DeWitt.
The driver of the semi, Mitchell Reader, 20, of Wheatland, was backing the trailer into a private drive on 245th Street when the van, headed westbound, collided into the trailer.
Reader was uninjured. The two passengers riding with Boyer, Jimmie Clark, 66, and John Carber, 58, both of DeWitt, were taken to Genesis Medical Center in DeWitt. Their condition is unknown.
The crash is still under investigation.
