A Hudson man was hurt when he tried to avoid hitting a deer Saturday night on Interstate 380 near Urbana, authorities said.
Joshua K. Mangrich, 32, was southbound on I-380 near mile marker 40 around 9:25 p.m. when a deer came onto the freeway from the south ditch. According to the Iowa State Patrol, Mangrich swerved and his sport-utility vehicle hit an embankment in the median and rolled.
The vehicle crossed the northbound lanes of traffic before coming to rest on its side in the far ditch.
Mangrich was taken by ambulance to St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Information about his medical condition was not immediately released.
