The death of a Marion man at his apartment building has been determined to be accidental, police said.
Greg Morris, 60, was found dead inside his apartment, 825 26th St., No. N3, on Oct. 21. Police found a significant amount of blood in the apartment, and agents with the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation were summoned to the scene.
In a news release issued Thursday, Marion Police Chief Harry Daugherty said an autopsy and investigation determined Morris' death was an accident. Investigators believe Morris fell in the parking lot outside of his apartment building and struck his head, causing a deep gash on his chin.
Morris was able to make it inside his apartment, where he died from blood loss, health issues and other contributing factors, police said. A family friend who is known to check on Morris discovered Morris' body that Friday afternoon.
