Dead body found near Amana Lily Lake Sunday

The Iowa County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a dead body that was found Sunday morning near the picnic area of the Amana Lily Lake, according to a news release from the Sheriff’s Office.
Law enforcement was notified of the discovery of the body at 10:12 a.m. Sunday, according to the release. The body has been identified, but the sheriff’s office has not released the name of the deceased pending notification of next of kin.
The release states the body belonged to a female, but did not give an age or other identifying information.
The body has been transported to the Iowa State Medical Examiner’s Office in Ankeny for an autopsy, the release states.
